PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Senior military commanders have briefed Prime Minister Imran Khan on the emerging situation in Afghanistan.
The ongoing Afghan peace process and Pakistan’s overall security environment also came up for discussion at the meeting at the Inter-Services Intelligence Agency (ISI) headquarters.
ISI chief Lt Gen Faiz Hameed received Khan, who was accompanied by Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin.
Later, Khan chaired a meeting that was attended by Chief of Army Staff Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Air Staff Zaheer Ahmed, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi and Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
The meeting comes amid the withdrawal of international troops from Afghanistan, where militant-linked violence has sharply escalated in recent months.
