3 Taliban killed, as many police wounded

CHARIKAR/AIBAK (Pajhwok): Police recruitment in-charge in central Kapisa province has been wounded in an armed attack along with two colleagues and three Taliban insurgents have been killed in a clash with Afghan police in northern Samangan province.

Kapisa police spokesman AbdulShayiqShorish said Major HanoshJamshidi, recruitment in-charge of Kapisa province and two of his colleagues have been wounded in an armed attack in Sayyad area of Bagram district on Wednesday morning.

He said the policemen were on their way to Parwan from Kapisa when they came under attack, adding the wounded have been evacuated to the emergency hospital of central Panjshir province.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the incident.

Separately, district chief of Hazrat Sultan of Samangan province, Mohammad HashemMudqiq said Maulvi Mohammad Din, a Taliban group commander and two of his fighters have been killed in an armed clash with the police in Shaikha village of Hazrat Sultan district on Wednesday morning.

The district chief said the slain Taliban fighters wanted to assassinate the district chief but they were engaged by police about 200 meters away from the district building.

He said bodies of the slain Taliban remained on the battle ground.

The Taliban have not yet commented in this regard.
