US hands over 6th military base to Afghan forces

KABUL (Pajhwok): US troops have handed over a 6^th military base to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in Kabul, an official said on Saturday.

Fawad Aman, spokesman for MoD, told Pajhwok Afghan News Deputy Minister of Defence Dr. Najibullah Wardak and NATO Commander Gen. Miller attended the handover ceremony for the New Kabul Military Camp.

Wardak appreciated efforts by US and NATO forces against the scourge of terrorism over the past two decades in Afghanistan.

Gen. Miller praised achievements and of the Afghan Defence and Security Forces and called for continued financial and military assistance to them.

In line with President Joe Biden’s announcement, the withdrawal of US and NATO forces from Afghanistan began on May 1.
