GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen shot dead a tribal elder in southern Ghazni province yesterday, an official said on Tuesday.
Governor’s spokesman, WahidullahJumazada told Pajhwok Afghan News unidentified gunmen fired at Mohammad Azim Muslimjar, a tribal elder, and killed him.
“Muslimjar was water supply chief of Ghazni province,” he said, adding that no one had so far been arrested in connection with the murder but security forces had launched their investigation.
The official said earlier some assassinating groups had been arrested and referred to the judicial organs.
Rahimullah, a local resident, told Pajhwok Afghan News Muslimjar was killed in front of his home. The elder had no enmity with anyone, he said.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the murder.
Lately, targeted assassinations have increased all over the country.
