MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): A number of public representatives in the Wolesi Jirga or lower house of the parliament and the provincial council of northern Balkh province say former jihadi commanders and groups in the north of the country are receiving weapons what is rumoured to support the government.
Some public representatives termed the move as illegal and catastrophic in future but some others say if controlled by the government former jihadi and local commanders could prove effective for security.
Balkh civil society activists called distribution of the weapons as dangerous and asked the government to stop the process.
