KABUL (Pajhwok): Over 50 cell towers are completely or partially destroyed as a result of insecurity nation-wide during ongoing fiscal year, the Afghanistan Telecommunication and Regulatory Authority (ATRA) said on Thursday.
Among the destroyed facilities were some ATRA cellular stations built on ATRA’s fund which facilitated thousands of citizens in terms of telecommunication services.
This comes that 308 cell sites were completely or partially destroyed during last fiscal year inflicting $15 to $17 million financial loss to ATRA.
ATRA called on masses that cell sites were the nation’s infrastructure and urged them to play their role in its protection.
ATRA asked people not to allow militants to destroy these facilities because internet and telecommunication was the primary necessity of human being at this stage.
