KABUL (Pajhwok): The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) secretary-general and the Afghan minister of religious affairs have held talks in Jeddah.

Yousef Al-Othaimeen and Mohammed Qasim Halimi reviewed cooperation between the OIC and Afghanistan, the Saudi Gazette reported on Thursday.

The latest developments in the peace process in Afghanistan also came up for discussion at the meeting.

Al-Othaimeen renewed the Islamic bloc’s commitment to helping the Afghan people to achieve comprehensive reconciliation.

While supporting efforts for lasting peace, stability and development in Afghanistan, he recalled decisions taken during the OIC summit, ministerial meetings and the Makkah Declaration issued on July 11, 2018.

For his part, Halimi commended OIC’s stance and role in achieving peace, security, stability and development in Afghanistan.
