Jilani Farhad, the governor’s spokesman, told reporters on Thursday the rebels blew up the bridge in Pashtun Zarghun district.

The destruction of the bridge on a road in Kandar village caused problems for residents of Pashtun Zarghon, Oba and Chesht districts, he added.

Local residents, meanwhile, urged the insurgents not to destroy public facilities.

Separately, seven Taliban and one security officials were killed in the Kashk Kohna district of the province.

Farhad said the fighters staged the attack from an area behind Kashak Kohna district. Seven Taliban were and 13 others wounded.

He added one security official was also killed while three others were wounded in the attack.

The governor’s spokesman said, the Taliban fled the area after suffering casualties.

The Taliban have not yet commented regarding the two incidents.

However, the movement’s spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi wrote on his Twitter account the rebels stormed the security post in SarAb village.

The Taliban captured the security post and killed its commander, named Feroz, in the overnight assault, Ahmadi said. Hr/mud
