FIROZKOH (Pajhwok): At least 19 security personnel have been killed and 20 others wounded in a Taliban attack on Tulk district of western Ghor province, local sources said on Saturday.
Sulaiman Yousafi, district’s administrative chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the militants stormed the district from several directions on Friday night.
“Last night I called the governor, police chief, National Directorate of Security head and battalion commander but no one responded; even aircrafts had come but they did not conduct strike and unfortunately 19 security personnel were killed and over 20 more wounded,” he added.
He added that clashes were underway in the district from the past eight days but central government took no action so far.
The district chief said the Taliban have captured the district market, health centers.
He warned if the government did not take action then we would witness worse consequences.
In a statement, Taliban claimed capturing three security posts of Public uprising force and inflecting casualties on security forces.
Pajhwok tried to contact local security officials for comment but failed.
Governor’s house media office, in a statement reported reinforcement to Tulk, Chaharsada and Dulaina districts of the province.
