Religious scholar kidnapped, killed in Logar

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Taliban militants killed a religious scholar after abducting him in central Logar province, officials said on Sunday.

Provincial Council chairman HaseebullahStanikzai told Pajhwok Afghan News the scholar, identified as MaulviSamiulHaq Rashid, had been abducted by Taliban militants in the Babus area of Pul-i-Alam on Saturday.

“Maulvi Sahib had gone to attend a funeral when the Taliban kidnapped him away and then killed him”, he said.

He added Maulvi Rashid was a prominent religious scholar whose body was found in the desert of Syed Mahmood Ghazi.

Governor spokesman, DidarLowang, confirmed the killing of Maulvi Samiul Haq, who was also the headmaster of Baghiarak Boys' High School in Khoshi district.

Armed Taliban have said nothing in this regard.
