KABUL (Pajhwok): A number of Wolesi Jirga or lower house of parliament members on Wednesday accused security sector officials of incompetency in security management and asked the president to reconsider the sector’s leadership.

Aziza Jalis, a lawmaker from northern Sar-i-Pul province, termed security in her province precarious and said that five of total six districts of the province were under the Taliban control and all transport routes to the districts were shut.

She said that the whole province would fall to Taliban militants if no attention was paid to the matter.

AzizullahUlfati, a lawmaker from Jawzjan province also accused security officials of their failure to control districts and said, “We do not know what plan is underway as districts are lost one by one.”

He stressed support for uprising forces against militants and asked people to defend their own values.

ShahpoorHussainzoi, a lawmaker from Logar province, also complained about bad security situation and said, “If handing over areas to the Taliban is based on an agreement, it is good because it would prevent casualties…”

Gul Ahmad Noorzad, a lawmaker from Nimroz province, said, “The leadership of security is with people who cannot bring management, we ask the president to bring changes in the security sector otherwise we will see the collapse of provinces.”

“Clashes are ongoing in four districts of Herat province since the last four days, we tried a lot but found no one to support security forces, we do not know what is the leadership doing, they cannot control the current situation…,” SadiqQaderi, a lawmaker from Herat province said.

He also asked the president to appoint qualified people in the security sector to improve the general situation in the country.
