HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): The students of Faculty of Computer Science of western Herat province have developed an oxygen-producing machine.

Abdul Khaleq Mohammadi, head of the Aria TapTek robotics youth group, said the device had the capacity to produce 15 liters of oxygen in a minute with purity of 65 to 75 percent.

According to him, the device can also function with the DC power from batteries and solar panels.

This machine is able to also purify air from dust and other harmful gases in a three-phase processing system, Mohammadi said.

About 50,000 afghanis had been spent on the development of this device which is created from simple tools, he said, adding the machine was very effective considering to the surge in Covid-19 cases and shortage of oxygen supply to hospitals.

Malika Rayhani, a member of the robotics team, said that the device was made of basic tools and had still need development, but it was able to solve the problems of oxygen deficiency.

Governor Abdul Sabor Qane, commended the robotics group for the development of the system.

Provincial Public Health Director Abdul Hakim Tamana praised the initiative of the robotics team, saying the device would also be tested by the Ministry of Public Health.
