KABUL (Pajhwok): The Counter-Narcotics Justice Center (CNJC) says at least 35 people, including two women, have been sentenced to various prison terms in connection with 24 cases of drug trafficking last week.
Khalild Mowahid, a spokesman for CNJC, told Pajhwok Afghan News that eight of the detainees were sentenced to prison terms from two to 22 years.
He added intelligence agencies had seized 22.87 kilograms of heroin, 11 kilograms of morphine, 275 kilograms of opium, 290 kilograms of hashish and several kilograms of other drugs.
Last week, he said, the counter-narcotics and intelligence personnel had arrested 10 suspects in connection with seven drugs trafficking cases.
The suspects were detained along with drugs in Kabul, Nangarhar, Takhar, Khost and Badakhshan provinces.
