KABUL (Pajhwok): With foreign forces departing the war-devastated country, Russia has called for the creation of a coalition government in Afghanistan.
Russia’s presidential envoy for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov promised on Friday global support for the formation of an interim government in Kabul.
RIA news agency quoted him as saying: “A final decision on the configuration and parameters of the future power structure should be made by Afghans themselves.”
Kabulov warned the US against the relocation of its military facilities to Central Asia amid the withdrawal of its troops from Afghanistan.
“We have already sent such a signal to Washington at various levels, I hope it will be heard,” the diplomat said, hoping for the acceleration of Afghan peace parleys.
He added: “We continue to work together in the format of an expanded ‘troika’ with the participation of Russia, the US, China, and Pakistan.”
