Security, financial issues: Samangan TV goes off air

AIBAK (Pajhwok): A local television ‘Sema-i-Sulha’ in northern Samangan province has stopped broadcasting and closed its gates due to security and financial reasons, an official said on Saturday.

Samangan Information Department Director Asadullah Attae said: “In Samangan eight print and electronic media outlets have operational licensees. Unfortunately, one of the registered televisions has stopped functioning due to insecurity and financial problems.”

Television Director Ismael Sadaat said they had to shut the television due to the lack of financial support and insecurity.

Media outlets in Samangan are not financial sound, he said, adding that government and foreign NGOs had also stopped supporting the local media.
