KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani on Tuesday traveled to northern Balkh province where he issued necessary instructions about the security situation of Balkh and neighboring provinces.
In a statement, the Presidential Palace said that a high level security meeting was chaired by the president at the governor’s house and security officials briefed the President about the security situation in northern zone.
The officials also shared their plans and strategies about militants’ activities and thwarting their attacks.
After listening to their reports and suggestions, President Ghani commended the high morale and capacity of the security and defence forces, as well as their resilience and courage against the enemy.
He added that international commitments were in place to fund and equip the country’s security and defence forces, who had full support of the government’s leadership.
During his visit to Mazar-i-Sharif, Ghani met with Juma Khan Hamdard, chief of the United Council of Hizb-i-Islami Afghanistan.
In the meeting in the governor’s house, both discussed the current situation in the country, the need for a national consensus and support for the security and defence forces, the statement said.
President Ghani also met with Jihadi and political figure Atta Mohammad Noor and expressed his sympathy and condolences on the demise of his brother Haji Fada Mohammad Noor.
