KABUL (Pajhwok): At least nine Chinese engineers and four Pakistanis have been killed in an explosion in Kohistan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Chinese foreign ministry in a statement said that the incident happened in Kohistan area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Wednesday morning.
The ministry said that the explosion targeted a vehicle carrying Chinese engineers to a hydropower dam. The engineers were working in the dam.
Chinese embassy in Pakistan also said that nine engineers of the country were killed and a number of others wounded in the incident.
“Recently, our workers at a business on a certain project in Pakistan were attacked and suffered deaths and injuries,” the embassy said in a statement.
“We have notified Chinese citizens in Pakistan to avoid venturing outside unless required by work or business and pay especial care to their safety.”
On the other hand, some Pakistani media outlets said that Chinese engineers accompanied by Pakistani forces were traveling to Dasu dam area.
Local officials said that nine Chinese engineers and three security personnel were killed and some others wounded in the incident.
China has asked Pakistan to investigate the incident.
