Cut ties to terrorist outfits, China urges Taliban

KABUL (Pajhwok): China has urged the Taliban to break ties with all terrorist groups and return to Afghanistan’s mainstream politics.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi issued the call at a joint media briefing with his Tajik counterpart Sirojiddin Muhriddin in Dushanbe on Tuesday.

Xinhua news agency quoted him as asking the Taliban to be mindful of their responsibilities to the Afghan nation.

As the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan nears completion, the Taliban have stepped up their offensives across the country, triggering concerns among Central Asian nations.
