KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has welcomed the EU parliament’s support to Afghan women. The expression of support came during the 6th EU-Afghanistan inter-parliamentary meeting.
“Members fully support requests from Afghan women to be more involved in negotiations on the part of the Afghan government, and in general, in political life of the country,” a statement from MoFA said.
Kabul remained committed to empowering women and their active participation in an Afghan-led peace process and Afghanistan’s political future, it said.
“We also commend EU Parliament members’ stance on urging Pakistan to convince the Taliban to enter meaningful peace negotiations.”
The government wants all regional and international partners to exert necessary pressure on the Taliban to return to the negotiating table to reach a political settlement and end the decades-long bloodshed in Afghanistan.
