CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): Security and local sources in central Parwan province said on Sunday that security and uprising forces have cleared the SurkhParsa district of the Taliban and the district has been recaptured by the government.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) in a statement said that security and uprising forces cleared the SurkhParsa district of the Taliban on Sunday.
The statement said without elaborating that the operation resulted in heavy casualties to the Taliban and that clearing operations were continuing in the area.
A local source, who did not want to be named, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the Taliban left the Surkh Parsa district building on motorcycles and in two government pick up vehicles following the recapture of Sheikh Ali district by government forces.
He said the Taliban moved into the Sorkheh and Turkmen valleys and clashed with some local uprising forces. He added that government forces had reached the Sorkh Parsa district building.
Governor FazluddinAyar confirmed the recapture of the district by releasing a video.
The Taliban have said nothing in this regard.
