KABUL (Pajhwok): A key Taliban member, the mastermind behind Eidul Adha rocket attack in Kabul, has been arrested along with three accomplices, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Sunday.
The MoI in a statement said special unit police arrested the four Taliban militants during a targeted operation in limits of fifth police district of Kabul city.
“These terrorists were actively involved in planning and launching terrorist attacks in different parts of Kabul city, especially in Paghman district,” the statement added.
Police recovered two mobile phones, some documents and evidence from the detainees.
The Taliban have not yet commented on the rocket attack, but some international media outlets reported that ISIS had claimed responsibility for the rocket attack on Kabul city on Eid al-Adha.
On July 20, three rockets hit different parts of Kabul city near the Presidential Palace where the president and a number of government officials were offering Eid prayers.
MoI spokesman, MirwaisStanekzai said one of the rockets hit the back of the Eidgah Mosque, the other behind the Golbahar Center, and a third rocket hit the Chaman-i-Huzori area in Kabul, causing no human casualties.
