KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Monday asked international foundations to investigate Taliban’s crimes against humanity.
A statement from MoFA received by Pajhwok Afghan News said that the twenty-eighth report of the Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team of UNSC had confirmed Taliban’s continued relations with international terrorist groups including Al Qaeda.
It said the report revealed Al Qaeda was present in at least 15 provinces of the country. The UN report says that Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) operates under Taliban protection from Kandahar, Helmand and Nimruz provinces, the statement added.
The report said that the Taliban have involved the Central Asian groups in its expanding combat operations in the north in the recent months.
MoFA statement said that the Afghan government had usually revealed Taliban’s relations with international terrorist groups.
The source said that the Afghan government welcomes the UNSC’s report on Taliban’s ties with foreign rebel groups and terms the matter a serious threat to the world and the region.
The Afghan government stresses on independent and credible international organizations to evaluate violations made by the Taliban from Doha agreement and other international commitments as well as the group’s crimes against humanity, the statement added.
On the other hand, Afghanistan Attorney General Office (AGO) said that dozens of Afghan civilians had been killed in recent attacks by terrorist groups in Spin Boldak district of Kandahar province.
Based on international norms, this incident is a crime and Afghanistan penalty code also listed it as massacre and crime against humanity, AGO said.
The source added that AGO has ordered security and detective organs to investigate the incident in coordination with Department of Combatting International Crimes in line with the country laws.
