Key Taliban members killed in Jawzjan clash

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): The Taliban key members have been killed and nine other militants injured in a clash in northern Jawzjan province, an official said on Monday.

Police Commander Shah Jahan told Pajhwok Afghan News: “The Taliban on Sunday night planned major attacks on Shiberghan City which were repulsed by security forces.”

He said the Taliban Red Unit Commander for Farah Province Mulla Abdul Haq and a group Commander Mullah Serajuddin were killed in the attack.

He added the Taliban through their propaganda campaign tried to divert public attention but when it comes to battle ground they are weak.

He assured the people of Shiberghan of peace and security and urged them to pay attention to their business and daily life.

But according to the local people majority of the residents have migrated to Balkh or Kabul fearing violence and insecurity.
