PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Forty-six Afghan National Army (ANA) personnel, who crossed into Pakistan, have been sent back to their country, says the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The ANA troops, including five officers, were allowed into Pakistan after they lost control of a military post on the Durand Line, ISPR said in a statement late Monday.

It added: “46 Afghan soldiers, including five officers, have been returned to Afghan authorities at Nawa Pass in Bajaur on Tuesday.”

The Afghan troops and the Border Police personnel were allowed safe entry into Chitral valley in response to their request on July 25.

The Afghan troops crossed into Pakistan with their guns, ammo and communication equipment, the army’s media wing said.

“The soldiers have now been amicably returned to the Afghan authorities on their request along with their weapons and equipment,” the statement added.
