KABUL (Pajhwok): An Afghan Air Force (AAF) helicopter has made an emergency landing in southern Helmand province, says the Afghan National Army.
ANA’s 215th Maiwand Corps said the Mi-17 chopper made the emergency landing during an operation against Taliban insurgents in Nad Ali district on Monday night.
Linking the overnight incident to technical issues, the ANA corps said in a statement the emergency landing caused no casualties.
Those aboard the chopper were evacuated from the scene and the helicopter destroyed, according to the statement.
Thirty militants were killed during the operation by the Afghan forces in the troubled district, the army claimed.
However, the rebel movement has not yet commented on the casualties.
