SHARANA (Pajhwok): Four civilians have been killed as a result of a landmine explosion in Mata Khan district of southeastern Paktika province, officials said on Wednesday.
Governor’s spokesman GhaziDanish told Pajhwok Afghan News Taliban insurgents have planted landmines on all routes of MataKhan district.
He said that a passenger vehicle from neighbouring Paktia province to the provincial capital, Sharana, struck a landmine in MataKhan district, killing four civilians.
Similarly, a local resident of MataKhan, HajiGul told Pajhwok Afghan News that Taliban insurgents had planted landmines on all highways of the district.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the blast.
For the last 20 days, government security forces and Taliban have been clashing in Matakhan district.
