PARUN (Pajhwok): Dozens of people suffered casualties as flash floods swept away houses in Gamdish district of eastern Nuristan province, officials said on Thursday.

Governor HafizAbdulQayum told Pajhwok Afghan News that last night floods hit Mirdish village of Gamdish district, damaging 90 per cent of the village, with dozens of people suffering casualties.

The governor said the area was under the Taliban control and that they had prepared aid for the affected people but Taliban do not allow the aid to be distributed.

Similarly, another source told Pajhwok Afghan News 40 dead bodies have so far been found in the flood-hit area.
