5 people killed, 12 injured in Zabul mortar attack

KABUL (Pajhwok): Five civilians have been killed and 12 others injured when a mortar shell landed on a civilian house in Qalat, the capital of southern Zabul province, an official said on Friday.

Provincial Hospital Head Dr. Nazeer Hareefal said the incident happened on Thursday evening in the Kala village.

He said five bodies and 12 injured evacuated to the hospital from the site of the blast.

Zabul Police Chief Wais Samimi the mortar shell fired by the Taliban that hit a civilian house.

The Taliban have not spoken about the incident.
