28 people die from Covid-19 in 24 hours

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Saturday said 319 new positive Covid-19 cases were registered in the last 24 hours in the country.

The ministry in a statement said 2,132 people underwent tests since Friday and the virus was detected in 319 people, pushing the overall tally to 147,473.

It said 108 cases were detected in Herat, 52 in Ghazni,  24 in Kabul, 21 in Takhar,  20 in Kapisa,18 in Nangarhar, 16  in Farah, 15 in Saripul , 10 in Kandahar, 7 in Ghor, four each in Logar, Diakundi, Kunar, three in Kunduz and  one in  Balkh provinces.

At least 559 individuals recovered during the period, taking the recoveries to 98,073.

The ministry said 28 people lost their lives to the virus during the period, with the total death toll reaching 6,736.
