KABUL (Pajhwok): The prices of liquefied gas, petrol, flour and cooking oil have increased while that of Indian sugar dipped during the outgoing week in capital Kabul, market sources said Saturday.
A worker at the Hashimi Fuel Station in Taimani area told Pajhwok Afghan News that the price of one liter of petrol increased from 57 Afghanis to 63 Afghanis while the same quantity of diesel dropped from 57afs to 55afs.
He said that closure of transportation routes, worsened insecurity and depreciation of Afghani currency against USD were the reasons of high petrol rates.
He said that diesel prices also declined in international markets.
The price of liquefied gas also increased.
Mohammad Sharif, a liquefied gas seller in Kalola Pushta locality, said the price of one kilogram of gas increased from 60afs to 65afs.
The prices of flour, cooking oil and black tea also increased.
Zmarai Safi, head of the Food Traders’ Union, said the price of a bag of 49 kilograms of Kazakhstani flour increased from 1,700afs to 1,770afs, a tin of 16 liters of Malaysian cooking oil from 1,900afs to 1,950afs and a kilogram of African black tea from 32oafs to 330afs this week.
However, he said that the price of a bag of 49kg of Indian sugar decreased from 2,400afs to 2,380afs and a kilogram of Indonesian green tea from 350afs to 300afs.
Safi said that the price of 24kg of Pakistani rice stayed at 2,350afs.
Gold prices remain steady
Mohammad Javid, a jeweler in Lycee Mariam neighborhood, said the price of one gram of Arabian gold was 3,650afs and the same quantity of Russian variety 2,950afs.
Haji Hussain, owner of Sadaqat Money Exchanger Service in Sara-i-Shahzada Market in Kabul said that one US dollar accounted for 79.70afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees 492afs, compared to last week’s rates of 79.50afs and 490afs respectively.
