MAHMOOD RAQI (Pajhwok): At least four civilians have been killed and a fifth wounded in a mortar strike in the Nijrab district of central Kapisa province, an official said on Sunday.
Police spokesman Abdul Shaiq Shourish said the mortar shell fired by Taliban insurgents hit a residential house in the Kharej Dara area of the district on Saturday evening.
Abdul Qudus Mujaddedi, administrative chief for Nijrab, said the mortar shell struck the house amid a clash between security forces and the Taliban.
According to another report, four militants were killed after the security forces targeted a meeting of insurgents in the Sheikh Ali district of Parwan province, said Abdul Rauf Uruzgani, police chief for the province.
However, the Taliban have not yet commented on any of the two incidents.
