KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan peace negotiating team has met with Germany’s special representative for Afghanistan Jasper Wieck and his delegation in Qatar.
The peace team briefed the German envoy about the peace negotiation process and latest developments.
Salam Rahimi, head of the peace team, said they wanted meaningful talks and focus on key issues.
He added the only solution to the problem in Afghanistan was to achieve a lasting and just peace through dialogue.
According to the source, German special envoy said that his country supported the Afghan government’s efforts to achieve peace.
“We will continue our development and humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan,” he added.
The German envoy said that the war was not the solution, suggesting more focus on peace talks to end the conflict in Afghanistan as soon as possible.
