LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Around 5,000 families have newly been displaced due on-going clashes in Lashkargah, the capital of southern Helmand province, an official said on Tuesday.
Helmand Refugees and Repatriation Department Head Syed Mohammad Amin Ibrahimi said a total of 18,000 families --- 5,000 after Eid --- had been displaced due to the conflict in the city.
He said due to security reasons they were unable to conduct survey of the displaced families.
“We have some problems, if some NGOs have resources they should provide assistance to these displaced families,” he said.
