JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Trade with Pakistan and other countries through the Torkham port continues as normal, say provincial business leaders.
The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Nangarhar chapter says $2 million goods were exported through this port in July.
At the same time, the provincial administration says no one is worried about the fall of Torkham or barriers to trade. They government insists it is fully prepared to ensure smooth trade flows.
This official assurance comes in response to public concerns the Torkham port activities following the fall of ports to Taliban in Kandahar, Herat and other provinces.
