KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Security forces have made progress in military offensive to retake the Dand District of southern Kandahar province, an official said on Friday.
Atal Military Corps Spokesperson Maj. Sadiq Esa told Pajhwok Afghan News military offensive to retake Dand District launched early on Friday and fighting was underway in some areas.
Special Forces, NDS 03 Unit personnel, and NDS forces from Khost are taking part in the offensive against militants, he said.
According to another source US forces have bombarded the Taliban positions in Dand District killing 20 militants and a Hamvee vehicle.
Security forces also lunched attacks against the Taliban in the 15th Municipality District of Kandahar City but there was no information about casualties.
The Taliban have not spoken about military offensive in Dand District and casualties inflicted on them.
