Security forces advancing as Taliban pushed back  

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Heavy fighting underway in the Abdul Rashid Dostum Palae and Andkhoi Port in Shiberghan, the capital of northern Jawzjan province, between security forces and the Taliban on Friday, an official said.

Police Chief Col. Khawaja Jilani told Pajhwok Afghan News security forces were advancing on different fronts and pushed back the Taliban.

He claimed a large number of the Taliban were killed and injure in Friday fighting but the exact number was not clear.

Jilani said the central area of Shibeghan was in the control of security forces and the situation were improving. He added a large number of equipment remained on the streets from the Taliban.

Provincial Council member Mohammad Sharif said security forces tried to pushed back the Taliban from Shiberghan City in the first stage.
