28 civilians suffer casualties in Kandahar violence

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): At least 28 civilians were killed and wounded in the ongoing fight in southern Kandahar province in the last 24 hours, officials said Saturday.

Charkhak area in the third police district, Sarpuza in the seventh police district of Kandahar city, and Mashkizi, Balakzar, Karz, Kulchaabad, SabziKar, Qasimpul, Jamal Baba and SaloKariz areas of Dand district of the province are front lines of the war.

Dr. Mohammad DaudFarhad, head of Kandahar Mirwais Civil Hospital, told Pajhwok Afghan News that they received six bodies and 22 injured civilians from the mentioned areas.

He said that the identities of the dead people were not clear and the injured included six children, a woman and men.

A day earlier, a civilian was killed and 15 others injured in Kandahar fight.

On the other hand, 03 Unit of National Directorate of Security (NDS) said that their operation in Dand district of Kandahar was underway and 28 militants including a commander had so far suffered casualties.

An official of NDS told Pajhwok that 20 Taliban insurgents including a commander named Emal were killed and eight others wounded in the battle in the last 24 hours.

SadiqEssa, spokesman of 205 Atal Military Corps, said that 26 militants were killed and six others wounded during operations in Dand, Takhtapu and Zhari districts of Kandahar.
