PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan has asked Afghanistan to finalise only one venue for an upcoming One-Day International series.

The two sides are scheduled to play three ODI in connection with the World Cup 2023 qualifications in the first week of September in Sri Lanka.

A Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official said: “We have received a communication from the Afghan Cricket suggesting that the ODI series be played at two venues.”

The News quoted the unnamed official as saying on Wednesday “We have opposed the idea, saying that just one venue would be a far better option.”

Pakistan’s national team will return from the Caribbean Islands, where they won the T-20 series, later this month.

The ACB official said: “We have made it clear to ACB that our national team members have only 10-day time between travel and the series before hosting the Kiwis on September 11.”

It would be difficult for Pakistan to keep travelling from one city to another, argued the official, who suggested a single venue be selected for all the three matches.

He hoped the Afghan board would come up with a final schedule for the proposed ODI series within the next few days.
