Current war has no losers or winners: Salvation Council

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Peace and Salvation Council of Afghanistan has accused the warring parties of inflicting casualties on civilians and says the current war has no losses or winners so it is better to declare ceasefire as soon as possible in order to achieve peace.

The council is calling for an end to the war in the country when the Taliban seized control of ten provinces in the past two weeks, displacing hundreds of thousands of people.

The head of the council, GulRahmanGhazi, said the war has no loser and no winner. “If either side wins, it will still lose because in the current war, young Afghans are being killed every day”.

He said the war only offered destruction and everyone would be judged in the history and before the God according to their authority and responsibility.

Addressing the Taliban, he told them not to target residential houses or destroy public utilities.

He called on the government to stop bombing homes and facilities that were the responsibility of the government.

Ghazi emphasized on resolving the Afghan problem through dialogue. “Please stop the war and misery; otherwise, different countries will make Afghanistan a hell for Afghans like Syria”.

ZamanMuzammil, a member of the council, said the war has exhausted the people. “The republic and the emirate do not worth the killing of hundreds of young people on both sides every day”.

A statement by the Peace and Salvation Council of Afghanistan said that war was not the solution and there must be a political solution to the issue with sincerity in order not to cause more pain to the nation.

The council called on all politicians, scholars and tribal elders to stand up for peace that the majority of the people want.

The council called on the government and the Taliban not to further damage national infrastructure.
