KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ghani on Thursday lauded the sacrifices of some frontline officers and soldiers in telephonic conversations, the Presidential Palace said.
A statement from the Presidential Palace said President Ghani had a conversation with Haji Aliuddin, the father of ShaistaGul and a number of frontline security and defense personnel and a soldier of the Special Operations Corps.
In a telephone conversation with Colonel Safi, Commander of the Commando Brigade in the North, the president praised their courage, bravery and determination in the face of the enemy, said, “HibatullahAlizai, your colleague and former commander of the Commando Special Operations Corps, has been named chief of the Armed Forces”.
The soldiers thanked the President and said that the commandos were resolute in defending their country, people and national honor and had launched heavy attacks on the enemy.
They said they had weapons, ammunition, courage and support and defending national honor and territorial integrity was their national duty.
Speaking to AtiqullahAimaq, Herat Police Chief, President Ghani said “we thank you for your courage in defending Herat province.”
He thanked Jaghori District Police Chief Major Abbas Akbari and his colleagues for defending the country, territorial integrity and national honor.
The Jaghori police chief said that Jaghori was a strategic district and assured that he would defend not only Jaghori, but also the fertile lands of the country.
The president thanked Ahmadullah, the first superintendent of Logar police, and his colleagues for their efforts in defending the country.
In a telephone conversation with Haji Alifuddin, the father of ShaistaGul, a soldier of the Special Operations Corps' strike unit, the President first prayed for the departed soul of the deceased and said that ShaistaGul's heroism and bravery was eternal in history.
Haji Alifuddin, the father of ShaistaGul, thanked the President for his sympathy and said, "We consider the country as our honor and are ready to serve it at any moment”.
