HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Twenty Taliban militants have been killed during a clash on the outskirts of Herat City, the provincial capital, an official said on Thursday.
Governor Abdul Sabour Qani said the Taliban attacked security forces and local uprising members check-posts on the outskirts of Herat City on Wednesday night.
He said after heavy losses the Taliban flee the area and security forces were busy in clearing parts of the city from militants.
Governor Qani assured the people of Herat that security forces will strongly defend the city and its people.
Gul Ahmad, he resident of Ferqa-e-Sabeqa locality, said: “Last night the Taliban came to our locality and forced their ways into local homes.”
He said the Taliban strived to used public homes as trenches.
