KABUL (Pajhwok): In a significant gain, the resurgent Taliban captured Jalalabad, capital of eastern Nangarhar province, on Sunday morning.
With the government still controlling the capital Kabul, the insurgents overran Jalalabad and stormed into the governor’s house.
As government officials are yet to confirm the fall of the key city, photographs showing fighters in the governor’s office were posted online by the militants.
A day earlier, the capitals of Kunar, Logar and Paktika provinces fell to the Taliban while clashes are ongoing in Gardez, officials said.
