SHARAN (Pajhwok): The governor of southeastern Paktika province on Tuesday said theAngoor Ada port between Afghanistan and Pakistan would be reopened soon, adding that people's lives and property would be safe.
Paktika Governor Maulvi Mohammad Issa Kandahari said they had lowered the national flag in the Angor Ada area of Barmal district and raised the Taliban Islamic Emirate flag instead.
He also said that he had talked to the other side about the Angoor Ada port between Afghanistan and Pakistan and that the port would soon be reopened for trade and movement of people.
He assured the government and civilians of Paktika that the Taliban would protect their lives and property and that people should return to normal life.
According to Kandahari, efforts are being made to activate civilian and military agencies in all districts of the province to provide services to the people.
He was happy that there was no bloodshed and that the Taliban were able to seize more territory easily.
Meanwhile, Sharan resident Ismatullah told Pajhwok Afghan News he was saddened by the collapse of the system.
"I wish there was a reconciliation, the system would not have collapsed. Even in 100 years, we will not be able to rebuild the system and fix everything," he said.
He called on the Taliban to provide uniforms to their men because many people in the city misused the Taliban's name and clothes.
Earlier, residents of Paktika had called on the Taliban to form an inclusive government and not destroy the national army and other institutions, but the Taliban have not yet provided any information on the nature of the government.
