KABUL (Pajhwok): Pakistani ambassador in Afghanistan Mansoor Ahmad Khan and Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, head of Hizb-i-Islami Afghanistan (HIA), have discussed recent developments in Afghanistan and future Afghan government.
A statement from HIA office received by Pajhwok Afghan News stated that Mansoor Ahmad Khan met with Hekmatyar in Kabul on Sunday.
Both sides talked about recent developments in the country in details, the statement said.
The Pakistani envoy said, “We are happy that the power transferred peacefully in Kabul without looting and anarchy.”
He said that it would be better for all Afghan politicians to come to Kabul and create an inclusive government considering the Taliban’s assurance for creating a government in which all the people would be represented.
Khan expressed concern over the situation in Hamid Karzai International Airport and assured of support in easing the situation there. However, he said that they were unable to help as the airport was currently under the US forces’ control.
The statement said that Hekmatyar also expressed his happiness over peaceful transfer of power and said that his recent meetings with Taliban officials were very productive.
“Our struggle is for a free, independent and eminent Afghanistan. We do not want anything for our party and ourselves. We are friends of anyone who stands for Islam and Afghanistan and we will provide them any political and military support, we have assured Taliban on this,” he said.
The statement said that the HIA leader had assured Taliban to declare the government in consultations with political leaders as soon as possible.
