Afghan forces suffer casualties in airport firefight

KABUL (Pajhwok): One Afghan security force member was killed and three others were wounded in a firefight here on Monday.

The battle at the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul also involved US and German forces, Reuters reported.

The firefight occurred between Afghan security forces and unknown assailants at the North Gate of the airport, the news agency said, citing a German Bundeswehr tweet.

German soldiers escaped unhurt in the clash, the Bundeswehr added.
