KABUL (Pajhwok): The Taliban warned on Monday there would be ‘consequences’ if the Biden administration delayed the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan.
Taliban’s political spokesman Suhail Shaheen issued the warning, saying the US did not need to extend its military occupation of Afghanistan
In an interview with Sky News in Doha, Shaheen said: “If the US or the UK were to seek additional time to continue evacuations, the answer is no. Or there would be consequences.”
Shaheen argued: “It will create mistrust between us. If they are intent on continuing the occupation, it will provoke a reaction.”
To a question, the Taliban spokesman said women teachers and female journalists had returned to work, having lost nothing under the Taliban.
About the foreign troops killed in Afghanistan, Shaheen asked the interviewer: “If we occupy your country, what you will say to me?
“What if I killed your people in your country? I think all people suffered a lot of bloodshed and destruction. But we say the past is the past … Now we want to focus on the future.”
