KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 200 stranded individuals, including Afghan Sikhs and Hindus, are set to be evacuated from Kabul to India today (Thursday).
With the Taliban refusing to extend the August 31 deadline for the US control of the airport, a special Indian Air Force plane would airlift them to New Delhi early Thursday.
The Hindu quoted Vikramjit Singh Sahney, president of World Punjabi Organisation, as pledging assistance to the needy families.
Some of the stranded Sikh citizens of Afghanistan are said to have approached Canada for evacuation. Canada conducted its largest evacuation of 530 people from Kabul on Tuesday.
