KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Shopkeepers in this capital city of northern Kunduz province say their shops were destroyed in the recent conflict and they suffered millions of afghanis loss.
The Taliban nearly one month earlier lunched attacks on Kunduz City and clashed with government forces for some days.
Some local people say their shops and properties were destroyed or damaged as a result of the collateral damage which caused millions of afghani loss to them.
Haji Hussain, a resident of Kunduz City, said his medicines shop was damaged in an airstrike. He said medicines worth seven million afghanis in his shop were destroyed in the incident,
Another shop owner Mohammad Karim said his and his neighbour’s shop was damaged in airstrikes during the conflict.
“Fire erupted in the bazaar and I suffered $47,000 loss, other people also suffered losses.”
Another shopkeeper Abdullah said as a result of airstrike his shop was destroyed. “All we had got destroyed. Now we wonder what to do,” he added.
Kunduz City Mayor MaulviElyas said the Taliban commission had conducted a survey of the losses people suffered.
“We have conducted a survey and awaiting assistance to reach then it would be distributed among shopkeepers,” he said.
