KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Local health officials say that an oxygen production factory will be opened in northern Kunduz province at a cost of $700,000 in the near future.

QariBismillah, provincial public health director, told Pajhwok Afghan News that healthcare centers in all districts of the province were currently operational.

“All men and women health officers in the province come to their offices and serve their people,” he said.

He said that they were fully prepared for responding to coronavirus pandemic and had also talked with contracted organizations on the matter.

Bismillah said that an oxygen production factory would be also opened in the province by Aga Khan Foundation at a cost of $700,000 that would provide oxygen to healthcare centers in the northern zone of the country.

“Health organizations have assured us that they would provide full support to Kunduz public health”, he added.

On the other hand, local people are unsatisfied with health services in the province.

Fazalhaq, a resident of Kunduz city, the provincial capital, told Pajhwok that there were no medicines in most of state-run healthcare centers after the collapse of Ashraf Ghani’s administration and health personnel were not attending their jobs on time.

“All personnel of coronavirus hospital have gone home, they do not work, other hospitals are in the same condition,” he said.

The Taliban took over Afghanistan on August 15.
