KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has the potential to ensure security of the Hamid Karzai International Airport (HKIA) in capital Kabul, the Taliban said on Monday.
The US has earlier said that evacuation process will end until August 31 and all US forces will leave Afghanistan.
Taliban spokesperson ZabihullahMujahid told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban Special Security Personnel had been deployed to the HKIA and they were capable of maintaining security of the airport.
“The Taliban don’t need security assistance from anyone but if there is need for assistance in technical sector and they will think about it,” he said.
Mujahid said the Taliban were capable of ensuring the security of airports and all other parts of the country.
But according to some other reports the security of Kabul Airport will be handed over to Turkey and Qatar.
Turkish President RecepTayyipErdoğan has said that the Taliban wanted to maintain the security of airport but for technical assistance they wanted Turkey to play its role.
Erdoğan said: “How we shall hand over the security to you (Taliban), pretend if there is a deadly attack again what shall we respond to the world.”
Before the fall of Kabul to the Taliban, US was in talks with Turkey regarding the security of Kabul Airport.
